Barra fishing Day Safari’s are run year round, with weather permitting during the runoff and towards the end of the build up. day safaris to the billabongs are very popular during the dry season as it gives you a total NT experience on a more personalized level as you will be experiencing this all in a small group of no more than four people with a guide who has been fishing through these billabongs for a long time, not only will you fish for the famous NT Barramundi you will experience all the wildlife the territory has to offer including crocodiles, buffalos, wild pigs, agile wallabies and dingos which are often seen along the shoreline. The stunning birdlife is also a great feature of billabong fishing including jabirus, brolgas, whistling and burdikan shell ducks, magpie gease, white breasted sea eagles and the ever present whistling and black kytes to name a few. On a day trip there is something for everyone.
Areas fished are
A typical day safari will include being picked up at around 5.00am from your Darwin Accommodation and being transferred in an accredited air-conditioned 4WD. Your guide will stop along the way for you to grab yourself a coffee and something for breakfast. On sunrise the boat will be launched for you to start your day’s fishing. Once in the boat, snacks and light refreshments, including iced water are provided. We use top quality tackle, which is serviced regularly to ensure optimal use. A hearty lunch is provided where you will pull up and have a bite to eat. Then onto the rest of the day getting off the water between 2.00 – 3.00pm and we will have you back in town at approximately 5.00pm.
If you do not want to fish with a large group of people and do the long boat trips offshore, we offer bluewater fishing tours for smaller groups. Popular Bluewater spots includes Dundee Beach and Vernon Islands where Queenfish, Trevally, Jewfish, Golden Snapper, Spanish Mackerel and Tuna are targeted to name a few.
