Extended Safaris

Extended trips run year round and vary depending on the season.

The Runoff (Mid February - Early May)

This is the time of year that is renown for when the big barra are caught and other great NT sportfish including threadfin salmon and black jew. It is after the wet season where the flood plains are receding into the rivers and out to sea.

This is when the barra congregate at the big tidal rivers waiting for the bait fish to come out of the feeder creeks.

Dry Season (mid May - end August)

During the Dry we fish billabongs, specific rivers, estuaries and bluewater. You can target a specific species or do a mix of estuary and bluewater fishing in one safari.

It is possible to head out in the morning for a few barra, then out to the reef for a mackerel or tuna and even catch the turn of the tide for a black jewfish!

The Build Up (September - end November)

This when the big barra are back on the bite. The water temperature is on the rise and the barra are getting ready to breed. The weather starts to calm down as well and is a great opportunity to get some bluewater fishing in as well.

If you're chasing a trophy barra and miss the runoff, the build up offers you another chance.
